Well I downloaded itunes 8 today, and as promised, it is accessible! Welll, more accessible than previous versions, anyway. it took a while for me to figure it all out, however, since I've gotten so used to the other one. So I thought I'd put this up to see what people thought of it, and to give people a chance to ask questions and stuff, or make comments about it! As for me, I wasn't exactly happy with it overall, but it does feel good to have something a little more accessible to use for my playlist. Cant say much for it being less frustrating, though! Some of the problems I'd come across were trying to find certain songs, and putting it on party shuffle. I think I've got the party shuffle thing figured out, but the songs are just complicating to find without going song by song! And being that I have at least 400 cd's on there, and over 1000 songs, that can get really tiring! As for the itunes store, I dont use it much but I hate those things that pop up when I barely move my arrow over it, saying itunes couldn't connect to it. So anyway, there's my spill for the day lets hear yours!
I like Itunes 8. I only really use it when I wanna look up a band, or a song, and with itunes 8, the store is not a problem.
Searching through your collections is easy. When in the source view go to music and tab one time to the edit box. Type what you are searching for and then press enter. Tab to the list of items and you will see it if it's there. Couldn't be easier. Also, the store is only partly accesssible via windows. You can search and buy songs but you can't access the store directly to pick catagories and other things. This however is fully accessible to voiceover on the Mac. I am sure this will come to windows soon.
For all you idiots downloading Itunes 8, I hope you didn't download Quicktime 7.3. That player is buggered. You will not be able to update or get Itunes off your machine without Ccleaner if you're running a newer version of Windows. I run Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba A100 notebook. I downloaded Itunes and Quicktime earlier this year when I thought I could use my Ipod Nano again, but mum nicked it instead, damn her, so I didn't need Itunes on here anymore. However, when trying to uninstall that, Itunes was unable to run because of missing file components. I despaired until I found Ccleaner. I remembered it from this show on the radio where this gadgegt detective mentioned it, so I downloaded that, fixed 13 other registry issues and O, joy of joys, it uninstalled both Itunes and Quicktime, both of which were buggered and wouldn't uninstall any other way from my machine. You can still download Quicktime 7.2 which is not broken, from this link. Ah! Wait! I just Googled Quicktime and the latest version, 7.5 is now available for download, so here's the link for that.
Quick Time 2009 - Free
I'm sorry about that, the boards don't seem to do links any more, but if you stick the above in your address bar, it should yield some results.

iTunes 8 is an absolute gem on the Mac, but I think it's still too heavy for Windows. Apple knows lots about writing software for its own platform, but everything they write for Windows is a resource hog, and iTunes is no exception. Plus, they force Quicktime on you because of some of the playback components, so that's just one more piece of bloatware you have to put on your already bloated Windows box. I love iTunes in OSX, but I'm stickin with Winamp in Windows.
on some of my things, I've got songs on there twice, and I was wondering how I could go and get the songs I don't want on there off. but they only show up once in my itunes music libiary.
